Songbird Ernst is named after Kay Bojesen´s father, an extremely versatile man. He was a business man, editor, cultural personality and a creative soul, who together with his wife Valborg inspired his son Kay to create a flock of beloved wooden figures.

Beautiful dark green songbird with silver leafed beak and legs. This songbird by Kay Bojesen is called “Songbird Georg” as a nod to Kay Bojesen’s apprenticeship as a silversmith with Georg Jensen, which he completed in 1910. The beautiful green hue and the fine silver details are inspired by old silver jewelry from this era and match the other Kay Bojesen songbirds perfectly.

Kay is named after Mr. Bojesen himself who was a great fan of the color blue. He was always either dressed in an immaculate blue suit, shirt and tie or a white smock. The Songbird – like his five colorful siblings – was never put into production when first designed by Kay Bojesen in the 1950s.
