A generous smile, seventy years of character.
The Kay Bojesen Grey Hippo 70th Anniversary Edition celebrates a beloved design first created in 1955. With its open pink mouth, friendly eyes and distinctive angular shape, this grey edition brings quiet humour to your home. Produced only in 2025, it is a special keepsake for Kay Bojesen collectors and a thoughtful gift to mark a milestone.
Unlike the softer, rounded forms of many of Kay Bojesen's wooden animals, the Hippo is defined by straight lines and a strong, elongated silhouette. Its broad smile softens that sturdy shape, giving it an unmistakably caring expression, almost as though it is saying, “I always have your back.”
According to the archives, Kay Bojesen himself kept a grey hippo on his desk. These anniversary editions echo that personal connection in FSC-certified beech wood, painted grey with a contrasting pink mouth. Choose the 6 cm-high Liliput or the 9 cm-high Small for a characterful detail among your books or a welcoming companion on your desk.
