🥚 “Crack” the egg. Add a pinch. Close it with a snap.
Meet the Salt Egg, an ash wood salt cellar that brings a playful ritual to the dining table. Imagine passing it to a lunch guest, opening its egg-shaped form to reveal the salt inside, then snapping it closed again. A practical everyday object becomes a small conversation piece.
Designed by Sven-Erik Tonn-Petersen (Tonn-P), its clean lines conceal a distinctive snap-shut closing mechanism. The closure helps protect the stored salt from moisture and grease between uses, while the sculptural shape makes it a piece you can leave on display.
The original design proved difficult to manufacture and did not enter wide-scale production at the time; Spring Copenhagen later brought it into production. Choose it as a host gift, a present for a design-loving cook or a finishing touch for your own table. Pair it with Tonn-P's Pepper Bird for a complementary display, available separately.
